Author Guidelines

Authors submitting manuscripts to SIJEL: Sensei International Journal of Education and Linguistics must follow the journal template and the guidelines below. Manuscripts that do not meet the required format may be returned for revision before editorial review.

General Requirements

  • The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.
  • The topic must be relevant to education, language, linguistics, literature, culture, arts, oral tradition, or related interdisciplinary studies.
  • The manuscript must be written in clear and consistent American English.
  • The maximum length is approximately 6,000 words, including the main text, notes, and references.
  • Authors must use the official SIJEL manuscript template.

Manuscript Format

  • The manuscript must be submitted in an editable Microsoft Word document.
  • Use Bookman Old Style, 11 pt, with 1.15 line spacing.
  • Paragraphs should be justified and consistently formatted according to the journal template.
  • Tables, figures, and appendices are not included in the 6,000-word limit.

Title and Author Information

  • The title must be concise, informative, and clearly represent the content of the manuscript.
  • The title should contain approximately 14–18 words and may include a subtitle.
  • Write the title in Bookman Old Style, 12 pt, bold, and centered.
  • Provide the full name, institutional affiliation, and email address of each author.

Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should be concise, factual, and able to stand alone. It should briefly present the research problem, objective, method, principal findings, and conclusion.

  • The abstract should contain approximately 200–250 words.
  • References, uncommon abbreviations, tables, and figures should not be included.
  • Use Bookman Old Style, 11 pt, italic, with single spacing.
  • Provide a maximum of five keywords that represent the main content of the article.

Manuscript Structure

Research articles should be organized into the following sections:

  1. Introduction: presents the research background, relevant studies, research gap, problem, and objective. This section should not exceed approximately 20% of the article.
  2. Method: explains the research design, participants or data sources, instruments, procedures, and data analysis. The explanation must be sufficient to understand how the study was conducted.
  3. Finding: reports the main results clearly and provides adequate evidence from the data.
  4. Discussion: interprets the findings, connects them with relevant theories, and compares them with previous studies.
  5. Conclusion: summarizes the principal findings and their implications without repeating the results section.
  6. Bibliography: includes only sources cited in the manuscript.

The finding and discussion sections should form the main part of the manuscript and should comprise at least approximately 60% of the article.

Tables, Figures, and Equations

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals.
  • Table titles are placed above the table, while figure captions are placed below the figure.
  • Tables must be editable and should not be submitted as images.
  • Tables should not use vertical lines. Horizontal lines should be used only where necessary.
  • The source must be stated below any table or figure adapted from another work.
  • Equations must be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text.

Citations and References

  • In-text citations and references must follow the APA style prescribed in the journal template.
  • All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and all references must be cited in the text.
  • References must be arranged alphabetically.
  • Authors are encouraged to use a reference manager such as Mendeley or Zotero.
  • Recent and relevant peer-reviewed journal articles should be prioritized.

Submission and Review

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the SIJEL online submission system.
  • Authors must ensure that all identifying information, metadata, and supporting documents are complete.
  • Submitted manuscripts will undergo editorial screening and peer review.
  • Authors must revise the manuscript carefully and respond to reviewer comments when revision is requested.

Important: Submission of a manuscript indicates that all authors have approved the article and agreed to follow the editorial policies and publication ethics of SIJEL.
